Voltron

Voltron is an animated series from the year 1984. The series is a U.S. compilation of the two anime television series Hyakujū - Ō GoLion (Japanese百獣 王 ゴライオンHyakujū - Ō Goraion ) and Kiko Kantai Dairugger XV (Japanese機甲 艦隊 ダイラガーXV Kiko Kantai Dairagā XV), which were produced animation in the years 1981 and 1982 by the Japanese animation studio Toei and have no direct relation to each other.

The anime can be classified in the genre Mecha, Sci-Fi and Action.

Content

Lion Force Voltron ( Hyakujū - Ō GoLion ) Five young space pilots are sent to the planet Arus. This is attacked by the tyrannical King Zarkon, ruler of the planet Doom. To save Arus still, the space pilot must activate five lion robots and with them Voltron, the most powerful giant robot in the universe form. Thus, the space pilots are the new Voltron Force. They are supported by Princess Allura, Princess of Arus, Coran and their advisors and the royal nanny nanny. Zarkon and his witch Haggar send against Voltron always new RoBeasts, which are used by commander Yurak and Prince Lotor.

Vehicle Force Voltron ( Kiko Kantai Dairugger XV) Peace is threatened again. The mighty Drule Empire wants to overthrow the Galactic Federation, and only a new Voltron robot can prevent this. The Voltron Force

• Keith Akira Kogane (黄金 旭, Kogane Akira ): Keith is the Captain of the five space pilots and the later leader of the Voltron Force. He wears a red uniform and controls the Black Lions, which forms the head and body of Voltron. Keith is a quiet type who invests a lot of time to make decisions. Production and publication

Japan

The anime television series Hyakujū - Ō GoLion was produced in 1981 with 52 episodes from the studio Toei Animation. Hiroshi Sasagawa, Katsuhiko Taguchi, Kazushi Nomura and Kazuyuki Okaseko served as directors. The series was broadcast on 4 March 1981 to 24 February 1982 the Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo.

Directed by Kozo Morishita produced Toei Animation 1982 Anime Kiko Kantai Dairugger XV. Here, the character design of Shigetaka Aoyama derived. TV Tokyo beamed this series of 3 March 1982 until 23 March 1983.

Internationally

The U.S. film company World Events Productions changed the two independent action anime for the international broadcast and adding them to the series Voltron - Defender of the Universe. Furthermore, were replaced music and sounds, cut scenes and changed the plot. So much violence has been removed and, unlike the original, many characters do not die, the army Zarkons consists of robots instead of people.

This resulting series was broadcast in the USA from 10 September 1984 to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC ). The English Air Date ended on 18 November 1985. Later, the TV channel USA Network, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network radiated from the series.

Furthermore, Voltron was - Defender of the Universe in Canada (CBC Television), Australia ( Australian Broadcasting Corporation), Latin America, Italy, Portugal ( RTP1 ), Poland, Taiwan, Spain, Ukraine (International Commercial Television), Russia, France ( antenna 2 ), Bulgaria ( Efir 2), the Middle East, and the Philippines (ABS - CBN) broadcast on television.

The U.S. Studio Cute Digitally produced a continuation of the series titled Voltron: The Third Dimension, which was broadcast on the Fox Network. Production was stopped after 26 episodes. The series has been translated into Spanish and Arabic.

On 19 May 1995, the anime was as Voltron - The Protector of the universe on the German private broadcaster RTL2 shown, but only 76 episodes were broadcast. Since the beginning of 2008, the first season of the series was released in Germany (episodes 1 to 52 ) under the title Voltron - Defender of the Universe, at Anime House, on DVD.

Synchronization

The series was re-synchronized for the German release on DVD in 2008.

Music

The music for Hyakujū - Ō GoLion comes from Asei Kobayashi. The Kiko Kantai Dairugger XV was composed by Seiji Yokoyama. In Voltron, the Japanese background music was replaced with original compositions by Dale Schacker.

Was used for the opening credits to Obtain Hyakujū - Ō GoLion! GoLion of Ichirō Mizuki and Columbia Yurikago -kai - a collaboration between the children's choir Otowa Yurikago -kai (音羽 ゆりかご 会) with Columbia Music Entertainment to songs for anime to sing - for the guy Gonin de Hitotsu (5 into 1) of Ichirō Mizuki. In Kiko Kantai Dairugger XV of the bias with Ginga no Seishun was highlighted, the guy with Ai o Tsutaeru Tabi. Both titles are from Tsuneichi Kawazu.

DVD Release

Since the beginning of 2008 appeared at irregular intervals the series with a new German dubbed version under the title Voltron - Defender of the Universe at Anime House. There are 6 double - DVDs released ( each 2 DVD, Region 2, in German and English language versions and FSK ab 12 Jahren ).

Comic

Devil 's Due Publishing published in 1985 a comprehensive three episodes mini- comic series for television series. Later, the series was continued and published until 2005.

The drawings are by Alitha Martinez, Clement Sauve, Clint Hillinski and EJ Su. Authors were Dan Jolley, Marie Croall and Mark Waid.

Merchandising

The company Matchbox produced a number of action figures under the name GoLion out the series. The combinable figures were replicas of the mecha from the anime.

In addition, the British shoe manufacturer Reebok has a series of 5 different Voltron models released. Each of the five models will be issued with a part of the mechas, so that, if one has all five models, the individual figures can be composed for the combined mecha.
