The Völzberger head is a hill in the Vogelsberg and 570.8 m with the second highest elevation in the Main- Kinzig-Kreis.

Geography

The Völzberger head rises 900 m north-northeast of Völzberg, a district of Birstein. The highest point is located entirely in the Main- Kinzig-Kreis. Already 70 m northeast of it is the boundary to the Vogelsberg. The Völzberger head lies on the Rhine -Weser watershed. On the eastern slope of the mountain springs the Lueder, which flows through the Fulda River Weser. West of Völzberger capitulum spring headwaters of the salt, which the Rhine flows over and Kinzig Main. With a predominance of only 400 m and a saddle height of only 8 m is the Völzberger head to a slightly separate mountain. Rather, it is a crest in withdrawing from the White Stone to the southeast ridge. The fact that the head is still Völzberger called more frequently than other mountains in its surroundings, due to the fact that it is sometimes referred to as the highest mountain of the Main- Kinzig district. In fact, this superlative but the 584.6 m high Hague comes to in the community Sinntal.

Flora

The Völzberger head is apart from the summit area and a wooded glade on the western slope. Northeast of the summit, destruction of forests found by the hurricane Kyrill.

Tourism

About the Völzberger head performs a stage of volcanic ring Vogelsberg, a 125 km long hiking trail that circles the Vogelsberg. From Völzberg the summit in 30 minutes walking distance. The view from the top extends in the east to the Rhön including the Hessian cone game, in the south to parts of the Spessart mountains in the west to the Great Feldberg in Taunus. Immediately southwest of the Völzberger condyle extends the Vogelsberger Southern Railway cycle path.
