Vorța

Vorta [ wort͡sa ] ( German Wart village, Hungarian Vorca or Varca ) is a municipality in the district of Hunedoara in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

The municipality is located Vorta in a mountainous landscape in the east of the Transylvanian Erzgebirge. In the northern half of the circle Hunedoara on the county road (drum Judetean ) DJ 706 and the Sârbi - a right tributary of the Mureş ( Maros ) -, the scattered settlement Vorta is located about 40 kilometers north-west of the district capital Deva ( Deva ). The six eingemeindeten villages are mostly scattered settlements, and to achieve on trails from the community center.

History

The place Vorta was first documented in 1468. However, the history of settlement in the region dates back further. Discoveries in the field of eingemeindeten village Dumesti ( Dorndorf ) indicate - according to data from G. Téglás (1898 ) and M. Roska - to the Late Bronze Age.

Population

In the 1850 census, lived on the territory of the present municipality of 2,856 people. 2,769 of these were Romanians and 87 were Roma. The highest population ( 4,169 ) - at the same time the Romanians ( 4101 ) and of Hungary (56) - was reached in 1910. The highest number of Roma in 1850 and the Germans ( 11 ) 1900 counted. In addition, in 1910 two residents called the Slovaks and 1956 two residents as Ukrainians. 2002 there were in the church Vorta still 1,082 people, of whom described himself as a Hungarian, the rest were Romanians.

2011 were counted in the community Vorta in 439 households 876 people. The main occupation of the population since the closure of the mining industry - after the Revolution of 1989 - the livestock, agriculture and forestry.

Attractions

  • The wooden churches in Vorta and in several incorporated villages Luncsoara ( Langenthal ), Valea Poienii (Hungarian Füzesdbogara ) and Visca ( Wiesdorf ), all are not under monument protection.
