VsetÃn District
Vsetín ( German district Wsetin ) is a Okres in the north of the Czech Zlín region. More than half of the total area of 1,143 km ² is covered by forests, about one-third can be used for agriculture. Of the nearly 146,000 inhabitants, slightly more than half live in cities.
In the northeast there are small deposits of coal, but their degradation is difficult due to the geography of the hills of Beskydy. To the south are low storage of natural gas. The largest part of the workforce are employed in industry (39% ), agriculture hardly plays a role. The unemployment rate is about two percentage points higher than the Czech average.
The forests of the reserve in the Moravian- Silesian Beskydy Mountains are home to rare plants and animals. Through his landscape Vsetínsko is an attractive recreation area for both winter as well as summer vacations. Every year around 167,000 tourists Vsetín, for which about two hundred accommodations available.
