Vyhne

Vyhne ( until 1927 slovak also " Vyhňorany "; German iron bath rarely Eisenbach, Hungarian Vihnyepeszerény - to 1888 Vihnye ) is a town in central Slovakia. It lies nad Hronom away in the Selmec mountains, about 12 km from Banská Štiavnica and 17 km from Žiar.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1326 as Vyhine, but there are references to the place in the year 1256th The town has the oldest still operating brewery in Slovakia, founded in 1473 is located. Vyhne was also a center of mining. Gold, silver, and iron ore are promoted and the iron ore and processed.

The place is also a former health resort. The spa with hot springs (37 ° C) was established in 1497 by the entrepreneur Selmec E. A labor camp Vyhne -called concentration camp was built here and used in forced labor mainly Jewish population of Poland, which had been brought here in the hope of emigration. The camp existed until August 1944.

Districts

The district Vyhnianske Teplice was incorporated after 1808, the neighboring village after Peserín, 1888. Banky belonged to the municipality of 1971-1998.
