Vyšné Nemecké

Vyšné Nemecké (Hungarian Felsőnémeti, Ukrainian Вишнє Німецьке ) is a small parish in the extreme east of Slovakia.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the slopes of Vihorlat in the East Slovak Lowland, right on the border with Ukraine ( Transcarpathian Oblast ). The Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod is located 6 km to the east, the Slovak city closest is Sobrance, 12 km to the northwest.

To the municipality next to the main town Vyšné Nemecké also includes the hamlet of Močidlá.

History

The town was founded in the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1262. Until 1918, belonged to the location in the county Ung place the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia, confirmed by the Treaty of Trianon (1920). 1939-1945 he was as a result of the Slovak - Hungarian War once again part of Hungary.

Attractions

In the village there is a Greek Catholic Church of St. Michael from 1810.

Traffic

The community is known for its location at the largest border crossing between Slovakia and Ukraine Vyšné Nemecké - Uzhgorod, where the Slovak state road 50 and the Ukrainian M 08 behind Uzhgorod turn in the M 06 (all part of the E 50 / E 58 ) opens, meet. After Schengen enlargement in 2007, the border crossing is on the EU's external border.
