Vysokovsk

Wyssokowsk (Russian Высоковск ) is a town with 10,635 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in Russia in the Moscow Oblast. It is located approximately 100 km north- west of Moscow and 10 km from the Rajonzentrum Klin.

History

Wyssokowsk was built in 1877 near a textile manufactory, which was already considered the largest of its kind in the Klin area in the early 20th century. Adjacent to the factory settlements Wyssokoje and Nowy Bazaar were laid end of the 19th century, which were merged in 1928 to a working class neighborhood called Wyssokowski. The nationalized after the October Revolution factory as well as the settlement were greatly expanded in the 1930s. 1939 Wyssokowski administrative center of the (1957 reconstituted ) Rajons Wyssokowsk, a year later it received the city status.

In the Battle of Moscow during the Second World War Wyssokowsk was the beginning of December 1941, German occupation and was badly damaged during fighting. In the 1950s, the city was rebuilt and in 1960 expanded to a neighboring settlement.

Economy and Transport

The textile factory Wyssokowsk represents today an important industrial company in the city dar. In addition, there are, among others, an asphalt plant, a bread factory and a factory for Christmas tree ornaments.

About Klin is a connection to the ring road A108 and the M10 highway. About a branch line is connected to the Moscow - Saint Petersburg Railway.
