Waihola

Waihola is a town in New Zealand 's Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located between Dunedin and Milton near the flat Gezeitensee Lake Waihola.

The name means Waihola in the dialect of Ngai Tahu of the Maori wai - hora, " spread- water ".

The town is located on State Highway 1 and the railway Main South Line Main Line runs through the place, but the trains do not stop here anymore.

Waihola has about 200 inhabitants and is a destination for day -trippers from the 35 km northern Dunedin, use the lake for water sports.
