Geography
Forest is located in the Zurich Oberland on Route Ruti ZH - Bauma - Winterthur, on the southeastern canton border, in the valley of Jonah the incision between Scheidegg, Batzberg and Bachtel. The lowest point of the municipality is in Grundtal to 565 meters above the sea.

History
Forest was first mentioned in 1217 in a document. In 1621, the municipality was granted market rights. During the period of industrialization Wald ZH was a major business hub with numerous spinning and weaving.

Weaving Hueb
In the weaving Hueb it is believed to be the founder of the house of the Industrial Dynasty Honegger. The resort was built in several stages and has a colorful history.
