Geography

Waldachtal is located at the junction of the eastern North Black Forest to the open landscape of the Gäus between the county town of Freudenstadt (11 km ) to the west and Horb am Neckar (12 km ) to the east. The municipality is traversed in a northerly direction from the Waldach, the most important Nagold inflow arising close to its southern border as Schneckenbächle.

Community structure

The community Waldachtal consists of the five districts Cresbach ( 880 inhabitants on 30 June 2008), Hörschweiler (707 inhabitants), Lützenhardt ( 1,499 inhabitants), Salzstetten (1841 inhabitants) and Tumlingen ( 1061 inhabitants). The hamlet Cresbach include the village Cresbach, the hamlet Oberwaldach, Unterwaldach and Vesperweiler with mill and Burgweiler Vörbach. The districts Hörschweiler and Lützenhardt consist only of the same villages. The hamlet Salzstetten include the village Salzstetten, the hamlet Heiligenbronn and the places flour mill and sawmill Missihof. The hamlet Tumlingen include the village Tumlingen and the houses Lützen Hardter mill.

The five districts also form villages within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code, each with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat as its chairman.

History

As part of local government reform of the previously independent municipalities Cresbach, Hörschweiler, Lützenhardt, Salzstetten and Tumlingen closed on July 1, 1974 together with the new community Waldachtal. While Salzstetten belonged to the district of Horb to 1973, were the other founding communities already in the district of Freudenstadt.

Established businesses

In Waldachtal the company has fischerwerke, manufacturer of auto accessories, Fixing ( Fischer plugs ) and toys ( fischertechnik, fischerTip ), its headquarters. With about 1,900 employees this operation is one of the largest employers in the district of Freudenstadt.

Education

Waldachtal has a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule in the district Tumlingen. In Salzstetten there's also a pure elementary school. For the little ones there is also five kindergartens.

  • In the district Salzstetten is the cultural monument salt Stetter Schlossle. It was declared a monument Baden- Württemberg to the monument of the month April 2006.
  • In the district Cresbach are the Outbound castle Rüdenberg and the deserted village Uniweyler.

Biblical Rundwanderweg Waldachtal

The biblical loop trail in Waldachtal - Tumlingen is 900 meters long and consists of currently 90 stations where biblical stories can be experienced. In addition, the visitor receives information on more than 100 biblical plants.
