Walden is a city and the county seat of Jackson County, in northern Colorado in the United States. It is the only united ( unincorporated ) community of Jackson County. The city is located approximately 2469 meters altitude in the North Park (Colorado Basin ), a very sparsely populated valley in the Rocky Mountains on the edge of the Medicine Bow Mountains, about 30 kilometers south of the border with Wyoming.
History
Walden was founded in 1889 as a trading post at the intersection of car routes from Laramie, Wyoming to the former silver mining town, now ghost town Teller City near Grand Lake, Colorado and the route from Albany, Wyoming to Granby, Colorado. Walden was incorporated in 1890. The town was first called Sagebrush and was later renamed in honor of Marcus Aurelius Walden, one of the first head of the local post office, in Walden. Before the colonization of the region belonged to Walden to the hunting grounds of the Ute Indians.

According to a survey by the United States Census Bureau from 2010 live in Walden 608 people, 318 men and 290 women.
