Walter Pollard

Walter Pollard ( born September 26, 1906 in Burnley, † April 16, 1945 ) was an English footballer.

Career

Pollard signed 17 -year-old in September 1924 when Burnley FC a professional contract after Sunday School League could previously draw attention to themselves in Burnley. 1929 changed the inside forward for West Ham United and came mainly 1932/33, after the descent into the Football League Second Division, to regular operations. This season, he reached the semi-finals with the club and the FA Cup, where they lost to Everton 1-2.

1933 joined Pollard in the French Division 1, where he joined FC Sochaux. After a year he returned to England because he did not get along with the " Gallic temperament " and probably also because in France's professional class, the maximum number of foreigners per team was reduced to three from the season 1934/35. After one season in the second division with FC Southampton he let his career at Brighton & Hove Albion finish. He found a job in the power station of Ilford and supervised the local factory team as a coach. He died in 1945 of a heart attack.
