Wandse

Eilbek

To the west of the weir of the mill pond in Wandsbek bears the river 's name Eilbek. Here was the former border between Hamburg and Wandsbek (of pretext = "border" ). Eilbekkanal

From Maxstraße the Wandse 1854-1900 was channeled and is therefore called Eilbekkanal. Kuhmühlenteich

Renaturation

The Wandse is the subject of the " Trout 2010". In the project, which was launched with funding HEW Environmental Foundation, is aimed, among other things by BUND Hamburg and the district office Wandsbek to improve the water quality of Wandse such an extent that by 2010 life back brown trout here. 2007, the following fish species were found in the upper and middle reaches of the Wandse: Three-spined stickleback, nine-spined stickleback, gudgeon, stone loach, brook trout and perch. In order especially to promote the occurrence of brook trout, the structure has been improved, created stone and gravel beds for spawning gravel and modeled a natural meandering stream. This made it possible that the Wandse in many areas is a summer cold running water with natural trout again.

Recreation area

Along the body of water between Schwanenwik ( Uhlenhorst ) and Stein-Hardenberg - road ( Darmstadt) always runs on one or both sides of a walkway that is also used by joggers and cyclists.
