Wang Yung-ching

Wang Yung -ching, YC Wang (Chinese王永庆/王永庆, Pinyin Wáng Yǒngqìng, W.-G. Wang Yung- ch'ing ) ( born January 18, 1917 in Taipei, Taiwan, † October 15, 2008 in Short Hills, New jersey) was a Taiwanese entrepreneur.

Life

Hailing from a poor peasant family When started working at age 15 (1932 ) in a business for sale rice. 1933 at the age of 16 he had his own business travelers. In 1955 he founded Formosa Plastics Corporation and directed until 2006, the Taiwanese company. Formosa Plastics Corporation was one of the largest plastic manufacturers in the world.

According to the American Forbes Magazine Wang was one of the richest Taiwanese and in 2005 was listed in The World's Billionaires.

Wang was married in two marriages and had two daughters and eight sons. The eldest son Winston Wang from his second marriage founded 2000, the company Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing, together with the Chinese entrepreneurs Jiang Mianheng, the son of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin. A daughter from his second marriage Charlene Wang founded the company First International Computer and another daughter Cher Wang from his second marriage founded the company High Tech Computer (HT) and VIA Technologies.

He died on 15 October 2008 at the age of 91 years.
