Warblewo, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Warblewo ( German Warbelow ) is a village in the powiat Słupski the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Warblewo located in Pomerania, about 11 kilometers southeast of Slupsk ( Stolp ) and 95 kilometers west of the regional capital Gdańsk

History

The village Warbelow belonged to the end of World War II to the district Stolp, administrative region of Pomerania, in the province of Pomerania.

In a document of 1478 Warbelow is mentioned under the name Verbelow. Warbelow was an old feudal possession of the Massow family. 1619 the manor was sold to George to twelve years of Nettelhorst from Courland. After several changes of owners Warbelow went to the Count of Reichenbach. In 1762 it was sold to the inspector Johann Schröder, but the Royal Court did not approve the contract of sale. Other owners were Kaspar Friedrich von Massow and Johann Benjamin Planitzer. In 1777 the estate was allodifiziert.

Around the year 1784 there were in Warbelow a Barbican, a water mill, four farmers, three Kossäten, a blacksmith, a schoolmaster, on the field marks of the village, the colony of New Warbelow, which consisted of a Vorwerk and three farms, and a total of 22 households. Last owner before 1945 was Erich Neitzke, who had the estate in 1929 inherited.

Towards the end of World War II Warbelow was occupied on March 9, 1945 by the Red Army. On April 7, 1945 Russians took all the younger men, women and girls from Warbelow with and brought them to Stolp and detained them in Raphael Wolff pen. From there they were deported to Russia. Warbelow was put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. In October 1945, the Poles came. Residents were urged by the Poles from their homes and farms, only the estate held the Russians still occupied. The town was renamed in Warblewo. Gradually, the German inhabitants were expelled. In 2008 Warblewo had 267 inhabitants.
