Warrington Transporter Bridge

The Warrington Transporter Bridge (English: Warrington Transporter Bridge or Bank Quay Transporter Bridge ) across the Mersey is a steel transporter bridge with a span of 61 meters. The bridge girder is 9.15 m wide and is located 23 m above the highest water level. The total length is 103.3 m.

The transporter bridge was built in 1915 and still exists today, even if it is for about 1964 out of service. It was designed by William Henry Hunter and built by William Arrol & Co..

The Warrington Transporter Bridge is privately owned and connects two parts of a large chemical company. Originally it was used to transport railroad cars with up to 18 tons in weight; In 1940 she was rebuilt for the transport of road vehicles. In 1953, their carrying capacity was increased to 30 tons.

This bridge is managed by English Heritage as a Grade II * building, and is currently listed on the basis of their poor state of the Buildings at Risk Register. She is also a Scheduled Monument.
