Wasaya Airways

Wasaya Airways is a Canadian regional airline based in Thunder Bay. It is a subsidiary of the Wasaya Group Inc, formerly Wasaya Corporation, which is 100 % in the hands of the natives of northwestern Ontario.

History

In 1989, a number of indigenous ( First Nations ) to an airline with the name Kelner Airways, whose fleet consisted of seaplanes involved. 1993 Wasaya Corporation increased its share to 75% and changed the name to Wasaya Airways Limited. In 1998, the current Wasaya Group the remaining share. Wasaya Airways began in 1995 with scheduled passenger flights. But the main business was the cargo and passenger charter flights.

Since 2001, Wasaya Airways has successfully expanded their business. It contracts with various companies, government and private institutions, tourism enterprises were among others completed. In September 2002, Wasaya Airways bought the Kelner Pilatus Center at the Thunder Bay International Airport and thus eight Pilatus PC -12 aircraft. In 2003, Wasaya Airways northern Ontario lines of Bearskin Airlines, and thus the turnstiles Sioux Lookout and Red Lake North. Thus, the line power has been increased by 21 destinations to the places of the indigenous peoples in Northern Ontario.
