Water coaster

A water coaster is a ride that has both the properties of a roller coaster and a water ride business. Most plants have out of the water on rollercoaster -like track elements and quieter passages in which the boats are transported similar to a log flume by the frictional resistance of the flowing water. The boats are usually using chains or vertical lifts supplied potential energy, which they then transpose on roller coaster rails into kinetic energy and then immerse in water. In contrast to wild water rides the route of a water coaster by curved and inclined rails distinguished.

Formation

If the condition is met that the car the track does not have to leave (see Mack Rides) as the first steel roller coaster in the world and one of the first water roller coasters in the world, as have the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland Anaheim ever end up driving a short Splashdown, in the boats plunge into a pool and go out again. Even earlier was to find Mountain Torrent at Coney Iceland, whose structure was made of wood, but still a roller coaster and a water part included.

Mack Rides

In contrast to the previous developments, the eight persons which boats go outside of the roller coaster rails only on the water and grab on the lift back into the rail profile. Mack Rides is regarded as the leading manufacturer of modern water roller coasters.

Dudley Doo Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal Studios in Orlando is a traditional log flume, is, however, due to the Camel Backs ( roller coaster hill ) and the lap bars in the gray zone between flume and water coaster.

Another variant of the water coaster is the Super Splash, which is typically a reverse drive and a final splashdown contains and thus can be counted among the Water - Coastern.

Other variants

Kumbak

The Dutch manufacturer Kumbak developed in 2006, the water coaster Flying Dutchman for the Dutch amusement park Efteling. The manufacturer went back to the same system as well as Disney and the boats leave at any point on the rail. After the final splashdown the boat is transported by a chain that reaches under the water on the lake back into the station.

The 22 m high path could not be open on time and cost 20 instead of the estimated 10 million euros.

Premier Rides

The American manufacturer Premier Rides has two of its Liquid Coaster sale, where today only one is in operation. The prototype was delivered to Silver Dollar City. Powder Keg in 2005 but rebuilt by S & S Launched Coaster and a remembered today in no way more on a log flume.

The second version, called Vonkaputous opened in 2001 in Linnanmaki, a Finnish theme park. Just as with Kumbak and Disney sat Premier Rides here on a continuously guided on rails course. In Vonkaputous also the Italian company L & T Rides was involved in the production.

Intamin

The first water coaster from Intamin was opened in the Holiday World. Pilgrim's Plunge is just a big departure that occurs, however, on roller coaster tracks. The car can travel as in Mack Rides freely in the water channel.

The second delivery was Divertical 2011 in Mirabilandia their place, unlike Pilgrim's Plunge follows after the first splash another course with curves and a block brake. Divertical is the highest water coaster in the world.

Not directly as a water coaster is Intamin 's Aquatrax counted, so the cars dive into the water at any time. Nevertheless, water is essential for this type of ride. Passengers may be splashed by water jets for example.

The only delivery of Intamin went to the South Korean amusement park, Lotte World.
