Watertown is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Columbia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,829 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Watertown is bordered to the west directly to Lake City and is located about 80 km west of Jacksonville. The CDP is from U.S. Highway 90 (SR 10) and the Florida State Roads 100 and 10A crosses.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,829 inhabitants distributed to 1,421 households. The population density was 456.3 inh. / Km ². 65.2% of the population were white, 31.4 % African American, 0.3% Native American and 0.2 % Asian Americans. 0.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.9% in different ethnic groups. 3.0% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 39.2 % of all households lived in 27.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 60.9 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.34 persons and the average family size is 2.92 people.

25.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.1% were 20-39 years old, 24.1% were 40-59 years old and 28.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 43 years. 45.6 % of the population were male and 54.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 34,177, while 21.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 99.09 % of the population spoke Spanish and 0.91 %.
