Mardle began with the darts at the age of 11 years when he began to practice with his father. His first litter with 180 points - the maximum achievable score with three darts - already succeeded him two weeks after he had begun playing. Since 2000, he is known by the nickname "Hawaii 501 " known: firstly, because it occurs on stage in Hawaiian shirts since 1998, on the other hand is 501, the starting point of a number Legs in darts. The name is also a play on the U.S. television series Hawaii Five-O. Due to his casual appearance and behavior on stage (eg, Dancing to pause music), he became a crowd favorite.

Even if he had in the meantime reached the 5th place in the world rankings, he could so far ( mid-2008 ) recorded yet no tournament victory in one of the big competitions ( "PDC majors " ) for itself - although he could in the years 2004 and 2005, the reach final in Las Vegas Desert Classic, both games but lost to Phil Taylor. The PDC World Cup 2006 Mardle reached the semifinals, but was defeated there also in a tight game of Phil Taylor with 5:6 in sets.

On 29 December 2007, it succeeded in the quarter -finals of the World Darts Championship, which organized by the Professional Darts Corporation Dartweltmeisterschaft 2008 to throw the first player, the world champion Phil Taylor ahead of the tournament. Taylor had hitherto always feeds into the final. Mardle was defeated in the semifinals the next day against the qualifier Kirk Shepherd 4:6 in sets.

Wayne Mardle is married since July 2, 2002, his wife Donna, who also pursues the darts - but only on a semi- professional level.

Mardle says about himself, he had not become a professional darts player, he would be television presenter. He justifies this statement by saying that he can talk nonsense, like all TV presenters (English: " I can talk crap like them all" ).

Lately, Wayne Mardle is often in Germany and adopts so-called Exhibitions in part, show darts, which he presented to the public various Dartkunststücke.
