Weekly Shōnen Sunday

Weekly Shōnen Sunday (Japanese週刊 少年 サンデー, Shukan Shōnen Sandé ) is a Japanese manga magazine at boys aged 10 to 14 years directed ( Shōnen ).

The magazine is published weekly - contrary to its title - every Wednesday at the Shogakukan publishing house at a price of 240 yen. The main part of the magazine make various chapters of this manga series and manga short stories. There usually a main character in the foreground, with which the readers of the magazine can relate to. It appears both sports and fantasy manga and romance stories. International famous mangaka like Rumiko Takahashi, Mitsuru Adachi Gosho Aoyama or publish most of their works in Shōnen Sunday.

Shōnen Sunday was founded on 15 March 1959. In the following years it became one of the most popular weekly manga magazines. 2005, it had a circulation of approximately 1.07 million copies per issue and remains behind the two other popular back weekly shōnen magazine Shōnen Jump and Shōnen Magazine.

The magazine is the model for the shōnen part of the German magazine Manga Twister.
