Weissflue about Sapün
The Weissflue (also familiar: Weissfluh or Weissfluhgipfel ) is a 2'843 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Plessur Alps northwest of the more well-known, although somewhat smaller Weissfluhjochs.
The Weissflue, which was formerly called Gablerflue, is the highest elevation of the former town Long Meadow (now Arosa ) in Schanfigg and the highest point of the ski resort of Davos Parsenn. It belongs to the field of Arosa shed zone and thus to the Pennine deposition area ( Penninic ). The Weissflue counts geologically to the Arosa Dolomites. Its highest point is at the southwestern edge of a vast Schuttplatteaus. Around 300 m northwest of the main summit is the north peak, 2834 meters above sea level, from which the west ridge. The summit offers visitors a comprehensive panoramic view and a low view towards Arosertal - Schanfigg.
A cableway leads from the Weissfluhjoch on the summit plateau of Weissflue that is transferred with various buildings; next to a panoramic restaurant, these are mainly the stations of the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, and military and radio-communication systems. Built in the summer of 2014, the weather service Meteo Switzerland in the summit area also a weather radar.
The Weissflue is next to the Wanderwerg via the normal route - via Sapün Haupter Tälli watershed (difficulty T2) - also from Obersäsställi by the northeast flank (difficulty T4) and the Schwerzi ( 2568 m asl ), a geologically interesting transition from Sapün into Fondei on the western foot of the Weissflue to achieve in easy climbing (difficulty T6).
The Weissflue forms a watershed between Prättigau and Schanfigg. At the foot of the Weissflue Casannapass road, that connects the inner Fondei with Alp Casanna.
Nearest towns are at a distance of seven kilometers to the southeast Davos and long meadow to the southwest.
