Werbach

Werbach is a municipality in Tauberfranken and is part of the Main- Tauber district in northeastern Baden- Württemberg. The community was known by their pilgrimage chapel of Our Lady Brunn.

Geography

Geographical location

Werbach is in the Tauber valley between Tauberbischofsheim, Wertheim and Würzburg.

Community structure

Werbach to include the formerly independent communities Brunntal, Gamburg, Niklashausen, Wenkheim and Werbachhausen. For the former municipality Brunntal part of the village Brunntal. For the former municipality Gamburg the village Gamburg, homestead and house Eul include ( Express) schirben, the houses Bimssteinfabrik, village mill, railway station Gamburg, Gasthof Tauber pearl, furniture factory and the Castle Mountain Castle. For the former municipality Niklashausen include the village Niklashausen and Outbound village Helzenberg. For the former municipality Wenkheim include the village Wenkheim and the courts Neumühlestrasse, oil and Sagmuhle and Seemühle. Wenkheim is, with only two kilometers distance from the Bavarian border, the easternmost town of the community. The village has 770 inhabitants and is the largest district with 1193 hectares.

History

The first mention Werbachs comes from 1248. 1563 kills the plague in Werbach nearly 500 people. In the German war took place on July 24, 1866 to Battle of Werbach between Baden and Oldenburg military associations, the allied with Prussia Oldenburg Werbach occupied.

Districts

Brunntal

Brunntal is first mentioned in documents in 1222. At that time, parts of the village came by way of gift to Würzburg. In Brunntal in the 14th century the monastery was Bronnbach wealthy. Until 1803 the village belonged to Electoral Mainz. In the context of secularization because of Reichsdeputationshauptschluss circuit, the place was assigned to the Principality of Leiningen. Gamburg

Niklashausen

Nicozeshusen, as the village was formerly called, was first mentioned in 1170. The village belonged to the old County of Wertheim, which later became county Löwenstein- Wertheim. Hans Boehm, the timpanist of Niklashausen, enters 1476 as a preacher before the pilgrims in Niklashausen. Him to 40,000 peasants to rally succeed. Wenkheim
