Wessling is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Wessling Wessling Lake, the smallest lake in the Five Lakes region.

Districts of the municipality are Weßling Oberpfaffenhofen and Hochstadt.

The settlements include Grünsink, Mischenried, Neuhochstadt and Weichselbaum.

The area is 22599.60 ha, the total length of roads is 99.489 km, of which 57.035 km field and forest paths.

History

The history of the church today Weßling dates back to the time which is commonly referred to as Baiuvarii land acquisition. After the withdrawal of the Romans, who were drawn from 15 BC as legions across the Alps and their civilization had brought with them, sinking the now abandoned, but not depopulated country for nearly a century in the mists of history. Only in the middle of the 6th century the Bavarians take the land between the rivers Enns and Lech in their possession. Since that time, so we can speak of a continuous settlement.

The extending around the small village Wessling Lake Wessling is an old vicarage. In the Middle Ages Weßling belonged first to andechsischen Bailiwick Neufahrn; this had its seat in Mamhofen. After the end of the Andechs in 1248 the village Weßling came into the possession of the reign of Seefeld. The 19th century brought great changes in the political structure and thus a change in ownership. In 1848, the resolution of the Hofmarken took place, including the so Weßling now heard from Seefeld to the district court Starnberg.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality high city was incorporated. On January 1, 1976, added Oberpfaffenhofen.

Traffic

The verkehrlich well-connected community is very heavily loaded from through traffic, especially from the A96 Ammersee. A local bypass is planned.

Tourism

The community markets itself as " artists' village ", referring to a long list of painters ( and Others Pierre- Auguste Renoir), who visited the lake. The standing at the lakeside sculptures come from a sculpture competition. The physician Alois Alzheimer ( which discovered the disease named after him, and explored ) lived in Wessling in "Villa Alzheimer ' lakefront on Alzheimergaßl.
