Geography

Structure and boundaries

The Westricher plateau consists primarily of the Sickinger Höhe in the north and the Zweibrücker hills in the south, which is part morphologically actually more to northeastern Lorraine (France).

To the north- west (for Homburger pool ) and especially to the north, to the land Bruch, the core plateau falls in a distinctive Escarpment, the Sickinger stage, while the eastern Westrich edge represents a rather smooth transition of the limestone plateau in the red sandstone of the Palatinate Forest. The below part surfaces on the Moosalb and Eppenbrunn protrude also to the Bewaldungen the Palatinate Forest. After now common classification form against which the Queidersbach and the Moosalbtal, the eastern settlement edge of Pirmasens and Trualbe the actual eastern edge. To the south of Zweibrücken hill country is in a sequel to France.

The average western border to Santa Ingbert- Kirkeler forest area and, further south, for Bliesgau, proceeds according to the Federal Institute for Regional Studies ( Journal of Saarbrücken) as well as according to popular opinion just west of the Saarland border and transgresses not the valley of the Assemblies, which used to hereafter as the demarcation former landscape applies. This compares with a purely Saarland internal breakdown tassels (see breakdown by tassels 1992) compared to the southwest Blew Kastels ( = west of the Blew right) still counts even a small part of the landscape for Zweibrücker Westrich.

Geographically, the plateau is divided as follows:

Watercourses

The Sickinger Höhe, mainly by the Wall half (17,9 km; 100.2 km ² catchment area ) and Auerbach (16,5 km; 80.4 km ²) is dewatered reaches in the south to just before the valley widening of the Black Bach. The East of Zweibrücker hill country ( Pirmasenser hill country) is mainly determined by the Felsalb (17,7 km; 76.0 km ²) drained, the West ( Schwalb hills ) by Schwalb ( 114.5 km ²) and Bickenalb ( 78.8 km ²), with just a small opening section is on German soil from the eponymous river. From Hornbach, the outfall of Felsalb, Schwalb and Bickenalb, is also only the shorter opening section in Germany, and this almost completely in the Lower Black Creek valley widening. In the north of Lambsbach drained directly to the Blew down the Sickinger Höhe.

Close to the northern edge of the Sickinger height passes the Palatine main watershed between the upper and the middle Rhine ( Moselle ) and almost the entire plateau on the Schwarzbach is dewatered to Blew, Saar and Moselle eventually.
