What on Earth!

What on Earth! is a Canadian animated short film by Les Drew and Kaj Pindal from the year 1966.

Action

The scientists on Mars have finally found out that there is life on Earth. In a documentary contribution they make to the earth's inhabitants before: the car.

It likes to move around in packs ( slow traffic ) and is occasionally available to discuss with other residents ( jam). If it is not satisfied, it expresses this (horns ), so that workers deal with particular issues ( construction vehicles, etc.). There are facilities that car prescribe things ( traffic lights ) and strange established libraries that enable the car continuously learns ( traffic signs ). In the evening it goes to sleep (garage) and visits every now and then a spa ( wash) or a doctor ( workshop). Also cultural activities takes the car right ( drive-in theater ). The path of propagation, however, is not fully understood, however, starts when the car is old. It is pressed into a cube. As we continue, the scientists have reconstructed: The cube is melted in a pink, soft mass, and then processed by different machines, so a mini car produced which will, inter alia by mini rocket shaped to a great car and after brushing ( grille ) and disk cleaning is finished.

What is have not yet understood the scientists that the Erdpopulation not with the parasites ( human ) has managed to deal restricting their buildings ( cities) the movement of the car. But this, the scientists are reassured, seems to have the car under control.

Production

What on Earth! , French title La terre est rental habitee! , Arrived in Canada in 1966 in the cinemas and was premiered in the U.S. in 1967. Narrator of the film is Donald Brittain. The National Film Board of Canada appears in the credits as " National Film Board of Mars".

What on Earth! 1968 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " nomination, but could not prevail against The box itself.
