Manx Gold ( treasure hunt ) was one of the most unique projects in the career of the author. She was asked by politicians in the Isle of Man to stage a treasure hunt to boost tourism on the island. So she wrote a short story that appeared in five installments in the Daily Dispatch in May 1930. The short story contained traces to four snuff-boxes, each of which contained a voucher for £ 100 - in the 1930s, a considerable sum. The inhabitants of the island were excluded from the search. To further promote the treasure hunt, a booklet entitled June was printed in Douglas and construed in hotels, guest houses and tourist destinations. Although approximately 250,000 copies of this booklet were printed, is only one received today

The author used the motif later in her novel with Hercule Poirot reunion with Mrs. Oliver and in a short story with Miss Marple A strange joke.
