Wiedingen
Wiedingen ( Low German: Weighing ) is a district of the city in the district of Soltau Heide district in Lower Saxony. The village has about 120 inhabitants. To Wiedingen also includes the hamlet Ellingen and Wiehe wood.
Location
Wiedingen located in the Lüneburg Heath north-west of the river Soltau Soltau. In Wiedinger hamlet Wiehe wood the old Landwehr Wall to is the Wieholte.
History
The Battle of Soltau, the last known Knight battle took place at Wiehe wood ( Wiedingen ) on 28 June 1519. On March 1, 1974 Wiedingen was incorporated into the town of Soltau. Mayor since 2008 Wilhelm Cassebaum.
Traffic
Wiedingen is located on the main road 71 The district had on the railway line Soltau- New Churches a stop (until the closure of the railway line ). Today local public transport is carried out with the bus line 205 and 253.
