Wiener-Neustädter Hut

The Wiener- Neustadt Hut is a refuge of the Austrian Tourist Club on the outskirts of the Austrian Schneekars in the west wall of the Zugspitze at 2213 meters altitude ( 2209 m according to other sources ). The cabin is supplied from the air of the Tyrolean Zugspitze Railway, whose route runs just above the hut.

It was built in 1884, after 1879 the ferrata was backed up to the Zugspitze.

Summit

  • Zugspitze ( 2962 m ) I ( partially secured ). The road to the summit of the Zugspitze via a lightweight via ferrata that starts at a natural cave ( " Stopselzieher " ) and passes on an abandoned mountain station of the first Tyrolean Zugspitze Railway over the ridge to the summit.
