Wilfred Collet

Sir Wilfred Collet KCMG (* 1856, † 1929) was a British colonial administrator.

Biography

Collet was born in Islington and had four siblings, including the later sociologist Clara Collet. After a holiday in Calais in 1969, he remained as well as his sister, Caroline, in France, where he attended a secular priest school for a short time. The stay, however, was canceled a year later, at the outbreak of the Franco-German War. Back in England had he and his sister Clara from 1875 frequent contact with the Marx family. He married Mary Ewins, who lived most of the time with their children in England. After she passed away due to illness in 1912, the children in England grew up with his sisters.

He was on May 9, 1913 to January 29, 1918 for Governor of British Honduras, was knighted in 1915, and was dated 15 April 1917 to April 4, 1923 Governor of British Guiana. He was a member of the Polynesian Society. He sat down to rest in 1923.
