Willemijn Verkaik

Willemijn Verkaik ( born June 16, 1975 in Son en Breugel, The Netherlands) is a Dutch singer and actress.

Life

Willemijn Verkaik grew up in Nuenen near Eindhoven on. In 1999 she graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory their studies pop and jazz singing as a teacher and performer. Verkaik completed their skills with the singing courses " Estill Voice Training System" and "The Complete Vocal Technique ". In addition, she participated in the acting classes at Jonna Coolen, Gosschalk van den Ende, Guildford School of Acting and Mara Otten part. She is fluent in Dutch, English and German.

After Verkaik more than ten years was active as a singer in various pop bands, she saw the time has come for a change. So she began her musical career in 2000 in the ensemble of the Dutch production of Elisabeth. In the years 2001 and 2002, she traveled with the theater group " JEANS ", in which she was one of the soloists, the Netherlands. In 2003, she stood as understudy the " Queen Anne " and " Milady de Winter " in the Dutch musical production 3 Musketeers on the stage.

The Orchestra of the Dutch Air Force brought in 2004 with " Eternity" a world premiere on the stage, in the Verkaik the lead role of "Barbara" interpreted. End of the year they went to Cologne, where she was seen in the Queen musical We Will Rock You in the roles of " Scaramouche ", the " Killer Queen " as well as " Ozzy ". In the summer of 2006 she has also played in Thun in the open-air production, the title role in the musical Elisabeth, where Oliver Arno and Philipp Hägeli were represented in the cast. From autumn 2006 until the end of July 2007, they subsequently took over one more time in We Will Rock You the role of " Killer Queen ".

From autumn 2007 to 6 January 2010, she was first cast as the " Elphaba " in the Germany premiere of Wicked - The Witches of Oz with Lucy Scherer at the Palladium Theater Stuttgart on stage.

In addition to her role as a witch " Elphaba " she played in the summer of 2009 at the open-air theater in Tecklenburg the role of Amneris in Aida musical by Elton John and Tim Rice. On 13 and 14 December 2009 Verkaik standing with DMJ, Dominique Aref and Mathias Eden Born ( with that of DMJ, Hannes Schauz and her self- founded New World Musical Ensemble ) with Songs For A New World ( music, lyrics and book by Jason Robert Brown), the theatrical song cycle, in Stuttgart's Wilhelma -Theater on the stage.

From January to March 2010 worked Verkaik as one of eight soloists in the " Best of Musical Gala 2010" with. The tour played in Germany and includes various musicals currently playing in Germany. From March 2010 to February 27, 2011 she again played the role of " Elphaba " - this time in metronome Theater Oberhausen and stood there, among others, Anton Carl van Wegberg Zetterholm and on stage.

Since November 2011, Verkaik again now plays the role of " Elphaba ". This time, she plays the role, however, in the Dutch version, which is listed there in Scheveningen.

On December 17, it was confirmed that Verkaik will play from February 2013, the role of Elphaba on Broadway. She was committed there by the end of May 2013. With the start of this commitment Verkaik was the first actress who Elphaba has shown in three different languages. On June 3, 2013 came the announcement that Verkaik will play from 18 November 2013, a second time Elphaba. You should take over the role in the London production at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

In the German and the Dutch version of the Disney film The Ice Queen - Fully unabashedly Verkaik sings the role of Elsa. In the Dutch version, it also addresses the role.
