William Addison Duncan

William Addison Duncan ( born February 2, 1836 in Cashtown, Adams County, Pennsylvania, † November 14, 1884 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. In 1883 and 1884 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Duncan attended the public schools of his home and then to 1857, the Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster. After a subsequent law degree in 1859 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started working at Gettysburg in this profession. In the years 1862 and 1868 he was elected to the local district attorney. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1882 Duncan was in the 19th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Frank Eckels Beltzhoover on March 4, 1883. This mandate in Congress, he was able to exercise until his death on 14 November 1884. At this time he had already been chosen for the following legislative session.
