William C. Skurla

William Charles Skurla, also William C. Skurla, ( born June 1, 1956 in Duluth, Minnesota, United States) is Archbishop of archeparchy Pittsburgh Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in the United States.

Life

William Charles Skurla studied at Columbia University in New York City as well as religious studies and theology at the Catholic seminary Maria Immaculata in Northampton, Pennsylvania. He received on May 23, 1987, ordained priest in the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church.

On February 19, 2002, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II, Bishop of the Eparchy of Van Nuys, based in Phoenix. He received his episcopal consecration on 23 April 2002, the Bishop of the Eparchy of Passaic, Andrew Pataki; Co-consecrators were the bishop of the Eparchy of Parma, Basil Myron Schott, and his predecessor, George Martin Kuzma. In 2007 he became Pope Benedict XVI. appointed bishop of Passaic, one of four dioceses of the Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Metropolitanate in the United States. On 18 April 2012, he was installed as Archbishop of Pittsburgh.
