William DuVall

William DuVall ( born September 6, 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American musician who is best known as the lead singer of Alice in Chains. He is also the co-founder, lead singer, guitarist and lyricist of the band Comes with the Fall.

Biography

Early years (1983-1989)

William DuVall first played in Atlanta in a hardcore band called Awareness Void of Chaos. In 1983 he founded the hardcore band Neon Christ, where he worked already as a guitarist and lyricist. The band has played with groups such as Corrosion of Conformity and Bl'ast and released two albums and continued even politically. In 1986, she broke up. 2004, there was a re-union for a gig.

After the release of Neon Christ DuVall was briefly a second guitarist in the Northern California Bl'ast, where he also contributed a little to the album It's in My Blood, he left the band but before taking the actual shots.

In the late 1980s he played in a Jimi Hendrix -inspired band called No Walls and devoted himself to his college degree in philosophy.

1990s and 2000s

DuVall was in 1994 co-wrote the songs I know for the, also from Atlanta Dionne Farris. The song received an ASCAP Award.

The late 1990s DuVall formed the band madfly with Nico Constantine, Bevan Davies and Jeffery Blount. Here he was again guitarist, singer and songwriter. Two albums, Get the Silver and White Hot in the Black appeared on Duvall's own label DVL Recordings distributed by Mercury Records / PolyGram.

In 1999, the three musicians Comes with the Fall, Adam Stanger was joined by a bassist. The first self-titled CD was released in 2000, The Year Is One followed in 2001. The band also played as support for the Alice -in- Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell on his Degradation Trip tours in 2001 and 2002. Was followed by a live album and a Live DVD. The Reckoning was released as an EP in 2006, the album Beyond the Last Light was released in 2007, both on Duvall's label.

Alice in Chains

After the original singer of Alice in Chains, Layne Staley, who died on 5 April 2002, the collaboration with Jerry Cantrell intensified, as this music became increasingly active again. In 2007 the band went with DuVall together with Velvet Revolver and Kill Hannah on The- ReEvolution Tour, which took place in two parts, in Europe and the United States. Another tour took to Australia. According to Duvall's official entry as the lead singer started working on the album Black Gives Way to Blue, which was released on 29 September 2009. Even with Alice in Chains DuVall plays live for the second guitar part, often an ESP Hybrid or a Gibson Les Paul.
