William Frank Reichenbach Sr.

Bill Reichenbach Sr., actually William Frank Reichenbach, Sr. ( born December 18, 1923 in Washington, DC, † 16 May, 2008 Hollywood, California ) was an American jazz drummer and percussionist, the jazz - samba style co-developed.

Life and work

Reichenbach began his musical career before he graduated from McKinley Tech High School. During the Second World War, he played in a band of the Navy before he went on tour with the big bands of Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey and Art Mooney. Then he worked in the jazz clubs of his hometown, where he, Patti Page, Teddy Wilson and Zoot Sims accompanied Frank Sinatra.

Charlie Byrd dedicated Reichenbach as an additional drummer for with Stan Getz Jazz Samba album rehearsed 1962, which caused a wave of enthusiasm for Bossa Nova in the United States. During the year 1962, he joined Buddy Depp Schmidt in the trio of Byrd, where he served for twelve years. Then he again worked in Washington, as a house drummer at the Blues Alley.

He is the father of trombonist Bill Reichenbach Jr. and singer Kurt Reichenbach. After the death of his wife he moved to California.
