William Harrison Dimmick

William Harrison Dimmick ( born December 20 1815 in Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania, † August 2, 1861 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1857 and 1861 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Dimmick was the younger brother of Congressman Milo Melankthon Dimmick ( 1811-1872 ). He attended private schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1835 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Bethany to work in this profession. In 1842 he moved his residence and his law firm to Honesdale. In 1836 and 1837 he was a prosecutor in Wayne County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. From 1845 to 1847 he sat in the Senate of Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1856 Dimmick was in the 13th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Asa Packer on March 4, 1857. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1861 two legislative sessions. These were shaped by the events in the immediate run-up to the Civil War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives William Dimmick again practiced as a lawyer. He died on August 2, 1861 in Honesdale.
