William LeBaron

William LeBaron (born 16 February 1883 in Elgin, Illinois, † February 9, 1958 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American composer, author and film producer.

Life and work

LeBaron studied at the University of Chicago and at New York University. He wrote many Broadway plays, libretti and songs, and worked as a journalist from 1919 to 1924 as manager of the New York Film Society Cosmopolitan Productions.

1924 LeBaron went to Hollywood and began at Famous Players- Laski to produce films. Subsequently, it was studio boss at FBO and 1929 at the RKO Pictures was founded in the same year, but had to give way already in October 1931 David Selznick. He then went to Paramount, where he remained until 1942 and then moved to 20th Century Fox. Major films LeBaron has produced are Fine Manners (1926 ), The Case of Sergeant Grisha (1930 ), It's a Gift (1934 ), Easy Living ( 1937), Midnight - unveiling at midnight (1939) and Remember the Night ( 1940). As a producer, he has been involved in over 200 productions.

LeBaron was married to the British singer and actress Mabel Hollins.
