William XII, Count of Auvergne

Wilhelm XII. ( Guillaume XII. ), According to other Census of the XI. or XIII. the name ( † August 6, 1332 in Vic- le -Comte ) was Count of Auvergne and Boulogne. He was the only son of Count Robert VII from his marriage to Blanche of Clermont. 1325 he joined the successor of his father.

Wilhelm XII. was the first Earl or Viscount d'Auvergne from his family, so for about 500 years, who had no legitimate sons at his death. Before the half-brothers of the second marriage of his father, therefore, was inherited by his daughter Joan the Auvergne and Boulogne. Only when Joan herself had no descendants at her death, title and land were inherited by William's half-brothers, the second oldest, Count John of Montfort, the rule took over, while the oldest, Guy de Boulogne, the former Archbishop of Lyon and current Cardinal, was not available.
