Guy of Boulogne

Guy de Boulogne ( * 1313 attested, † November 25, 1373 in Lleida) was Archbishop of Lyons and cardinal. He was a son of Robert VII, Count of Auvergne and Boulogne and Mary of Flanders.

Life

Guy de Boulogne struck a religious career. He was canon of Reims, in 1323 canon of Amiens. He received his doctorate in civil law and was in 1340 archdeacon of Therouanne and Archbishop of Lyon and Primate of the Gauls. He questioned the legal prerogatives of the Archbishop restore after them. King Philip VI had received back, so also the encroachments of royal officials was brought to an end. 1342 he was appointed cardinal ( and entered into this context as archbishop back ), 1350 to Cardinal Bishop of Porto- Santa Rufina and 1352 to the Dean of Saint -Martin de Tours. Guy de Boulogne was one of the confidants of the Popes Clement VI. and Innocent VI. He was papal legate in Hungary and Austria with the mission to negotiate peace with the partisans of Ludwig of Bavaria, as well as the understanding between King Louis I of Hungary and Queen Joanna I of Naples after the murder of Joan's husband Andrew of Hungary ( 1349 ) to restore. As legate in Italy, he organized the jubilee year 1350 and sat the provincial synod of Padua before, were brought to the questions of ecclesiastical discipline and the relationship between clergy and faithful to the language.

He returned back to France as legate to mediate peace between the King John II and Charles II of Navarre. As legate in Castile he tried to prevent the invasion of Aragon in 1359. On this journey he was accompanied by Jean de la Grange in 1375, even Cardinal was.
