Willy Giesemann

Willi " Tille " Giesemann ( born September 2, 1937 in Boast ) is a former German football player. He played 14 matches for the German national football team and 104 Bundesliga games for Hamburger SV.

Career

Start of career

The defender learned to play football at Wolfsburg part TSV Sülfeld. After moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 1956, he first played in the Oberliga Nord, the then highest German league. For Wolfsburg he came into the league on 57 missions and 5 goals. He moved in 1959 to Bayern Munich in the Oberliga Süd, for whom he scored 12 goals in 113 games. There he became a national player. He made his debut on 11 May 1960 in a friendly against Ireland in Dusseldorf, which was lost with 0:1. In the Football World Cup in Chile in 1962 he belonged to the squad and came twice to use. He also came in 1959 and 1966, two appearances in the selection of the North German Football Association.

Bundesliga player at Hamburger SV

Before the first season of the Bundesliga Giesemann moved back in 1963 in the north of Germany for Hamburger SV, winning the DFB Cup 1963 final against Borussia Dortmund. Uwe Seeler scored in this game, all three goals in a 3-0 success of the hamburger. For this club he played until 1968 104 Bundesliga matches and scored three goals. He was first team regular, but was thrown back by a serious injury he sustained in his last international match. On June 6, 1965 he broke in a friendly against Brazil in Rio de Janeiro his opponent Pele by a foul in the 87th minute the shin. Only at the end of October, he was reinstated in the Bundesliga. End of career

Willi Giesemann changed in 1969 in the second-class Regionalliga Nord for HSV Barmbek- Uhlenhorst.

After his retirement he operated 22 years a lottery shop and then took a Diner in Hamburg- Wandsbek.

He is now retired and lives in Hamburg - Tonndorf.
