Windows Glyph List 4
The Windows Glyph List 4 (abbreviation: WGL4 ) is a Microsoft -defined character set contains 652 characters. It includes all the characters from Microsoft fonts CP1250 ( Central Europe), CP1251 (Cyrillic), CP1252 ( west ), CP1253 ( Greek) and CP1254 (Turkish), as well as the signs of MS -DOS CP437.
At the stand of 2004 WGL4 characters are the only ones that are reliably displayed on all current operating systems. For other Unicode characters are often missing fonts, such as for Armenian and Georgian Windows 9x, Linux or Devanagari Ethiopic and runic script on Windows XP. The WGL4 characters, however, are found on almost all systems.
