Wojnowice, Wrocław County

Wojnowice ( German Zindel ) is a village in the municipality Czernica powiat in Wroclaw, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. The village has 567 inhabitants and is situated 18 km southeast of the city center of Wroclaw right of the Oder in the center of the city triangle with Siechnice and Jelcz - Laskowice. The Oder flows from the village about four kilometers south.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1291 under the name Wynowicz. From 1338, the name Cindal a patrician family from Breslau Cindal set by the previous holders, by. The result is the site of a manor, which later became the Earl of Saurma belonged. Center of the village was the Catholic Church, a branch church of the parish in Meleschwitz. The church also belonged to the family of those Saurma who had her ancestral castle in Jeltsch. The dead of the count's family were always buried in the crypt under the church.

The place was predominantly agricultural and has been dominated by the manor with its approximately 4000 acres of land. In Zindel there were three taverns ( Kretschams ); two of them had dance halls, where dances were held regularly. In addition to two grocery stores, there was a butcher and a bakery, and a forge. On 20 January 1945 the entire population of the village fled from the approaching Soviet troops. Former residents of the town and their descendants today live mainly in the area around Bayreuth and in the villages in the district of sheets / Lower Bavaria.
