Wolfgang Karius

Wolfgang Karius ( born June 4, 1943 in Gummersbach ) is a German church musician.

Karius studied at the Musikhochschule Köln music education and church music. His teachers were Michael Schneider, Wolfgang Meier floor and Hugo Ruf. He completed his studies in Paris with Marie -Claire Alain and Jean Langlais, where he was also organist of the German church.

After a long career in Cologne- Mülheim, he joined in 1983 as cantor of Anna Church to Aachen, where he also took over the management of the Aachen Bach Society. On 30 June 2008 he went into retirement. His successor there called George Hage.

Besides his work as a church musician, he has performed in almost all European countries, Canada, Israel and Lebanon. His work is characterized by numerous audio occupied ( Erato, Schwann, Electrola ). For his achievements, he was honored by the national church with the title of a church music director.
