Wolfgang Seel

Wolfgang Seel ( born June 21, 1948 in Kirkel / Saarland ) is a former German football player who played six times in the senior team of the DFB.

Career

The midfielder Seel began playing football at SV Kirkel. At age 18, he moved in 1966 to 1 FC Saarbrücken in the then West Regional, where he played from 1966 to 1971. From 1971 to 1973 he played in the Bundesliga in 65 games for the first FC Kaiserslautern for whom he scored 16 goals after having Saarbrücken not reached the summit. In 1973 he was transferred for a transfer fee of 300,000 DM to Fortuna Dusseldorf. In the Bundesliga, he completed from 1971 to 1986 a total of 361 games for 1.FC Kaiserslautern, Fortuna Dusseldorf and 1.FC Saarbrücken, in which he scored 79 goals. Between 1982 and 1986 he played in 277 games for the first FC Saarbrücken in the 2nd league and first division. He scored 58 goals in those games.

The striker was one of the team of Fortuna Dusseldorf in the late 1970s and with the brothers Klaus and Thomas Allofs, Gerd Zewe and Manfred Bock field had the early 1980s, several national players in their ranks and 1979 against Hertha BSC ( Seel scored here the decisive goal to 1:0 in the 117 minutes of play ) and 1980 with a 2-1 against 1 FC Köln won the DFB Cup, and in 1979 the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup against FC Barcelona denied the Fortuna unhappy with 3:4 lost. After ending his playing career Seel worked until 2007 for the Saarland Sport-Toto GmbH.
