Women's World Chess Championship 1927

The World Chess Championship for women in 1927 was in July 1927 in London, first as "Ladies Tournament " barred, but later recognized as the world championship chess tournament of the " most competent contenders on this item " on the occasion of the London Congress of the only three -year-old World Chess Federation.

The Secretary of the British Chess Federation, Leonard A. Rees, organized for the World Chess Federation Congress in 1927 an international team tournament, which is considered the first official Chess Olympiad. At the same time took place in a Premier called masters tournament and a women's tournament, which was later recognized as the world championship due to the high levels of the participants.

The women's tournament was won by the unbeaten living in London Czech Vera Menchik who retained the title of world chess champion until her death in 1944. She defended her title several times in tournaments and duels, first at the World Chess Championship for women 1930.
