Women's World Chess Championship 1931

The World Chess Championship for women 1931 ( proper name: Women's tournament for the World Cup and for the Cup, the Hon Lady Hamilton Russel ) was from 12 to 26 July 1931, in Prague the same time as the Chess Olympiad barred tournament for the title of world chess champion.

The reigning since 1927 Czechoslovak world champion Vera Menchik defended in the double round tournament held with eight wins from eight matches its title. With half the score the health ailing Austrian Paula Squid Wolf reached the second place.

The application of Vera Menchik when organizing the World Chess Federation was granted in the future to allow more than one participant from each country to the World Cup. 1933, the new law of France and England was used to send two participants.
