Women's World Chess Championship 1958

The World Chess Championship for women in 1958 in Moscow was the rematch for the title of world chess champion between world champion Olga Rubzowa and Exweltmeisterin Elizaveta Bykova.

In 1958 the Women's World Cup was held from February 2 to March 14 at the Central Chess Club of the USSR in Moscow. The main referee acted Eino Heilimo (Finland ), supported by Tamara Strandstrem ( Soviet Union). After Bykova had lost the title to Rubzowa in three-way battle for the World Chess Championship for women in 1956, it had the right to a revenge duel. She won with superior 8.5 to 5.5 points and was the first woman world champion again was for a title loss. The FIDE lists them therefore as the third and fifth world chess champion.

As a result Bykova defended again in 1959, the title, but he lost it in 1962 Nona Gaprindashvili that would retain the title for 16 years.
