Women's World Chess Championship 2011

The World Chess Championship 2011 Women was from 14 to 24 November, 2011 the Albanian capital Tirana discharged duel between defending champion Hou Yifan and her challenger K. Humpy for the title of world chess champion. The rate applied to ten games competition was won ahead of Hou Yifan after eight games, which they successfully defended their title. Was hosted by the World Chess Federation FIDE. With the opening and closing ceremony, the event, a total of 13 by 30 November 2011 lasted.

Cycle

In the World Championship cycle of the World Chess Championship for women in 2010 and 2011, the World Chess Championship for women were first collected alternately in knockout system and in the duel between the world champion against the winner of the FIDE Grand Prix. Hou Yifan had both the FIDE Grand Prix Women 2009-2011 and the Knockout World Chess Cup 2010 won, making the Grand Prix runner-up K. Humpy aufrückte as a contender.

Duel

The official FIDE rules for a duel planned, including the opening and closing ceremony, a up to 19 days for the duel. The games were to take place by 15 clock.

The thinking time was 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and then 30 minutes for the rest of the game, as well as from the first train one time bonus of 30 seconds per train.

The duel was scheduled for ten matches, out of which at least 5.5 points for the win were necessary. Event of a tie after the regular games, a tie-break to decide. These should first take place with a time limit of 25 minutes for the entire game plus ten bonus seconds per train four games.

In case of another tie, a duel over two games should be held to five minutes for the entire game with a time bonus of three seconds per train. A total of five such fights should take place at eventual tie. If all had gone out with a tie, have a so-called Sudden Death decided.

For the Sudden Death should be lots to see who gets to choose the colors of the game. The cooling-off period would be five minutes for White and Black for four minutes with a time bonus of three seconds from the train 61. White should have won the game in order to emerge victorious from the battle, otherwise the black player would have won even with a draw.

Between the tie-break games ten minute break was provided.

The opening ceremony was held on 13 November 2011 on the following day the first game was played. The closing ceremony was held on 30 November 2011, despite Hou Yifans premature victory.

Hou Yifan won the duel 24 November 2011 prematurely at 5.5 to 2.5 points after eight games and defended her title as successful.
