Woody plant

The term refers to a woody plant growth form. It includes perennials, woody remain with their axes and indelible, so that their above-ground shoot system grows in size over the years. Among the woody plants include trees, shrubs and lianas. Woody plants are primarily seed plants, but there are also some woody representatives among the ferns ( tree ferns ). From other growth forms, the term is defined only blurred (see, for example, half- shrubs, the axes of which only partially woody ).

With wood, a whole group woody plants is also referred to (forest, grove, hedge, bushes ).
