Wu Zhengyi

Wu Zhengyi (Chinese吴征 镒/吴征 镒, Pinyin Wú Zhengyi, Wu Cheng -i W.-G.; born June 13, 1916 in Jiujiang, † June 20, 2013 in Kunming, published under the name Cheng Yih Wu ) was a Chinese botanist. He was regarded as a leading expert on the taxonomy Flora of China and was a senior editor of the multi-volume Flora of China. His botanical author abbreviation is " CYWu ".

Career

Wu Zhengyi acquired in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science at the National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) and graduated then under the guidance of Professors CY Chang and WC Wu in Beijing from. He was appointed in 1950 as Deputy Director of the Beijing Institute of Botany; in 1955 he was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences ( CAS). From 1958 he was director of the Institute of Botany of CAS Kunming for more than 30 years.

Its authors and editors activities included, among others, each multi-volume works Flora Reipublicae popularis Sinicae, Xizangica Flora and fauna of China.
